I Am Nervous About Putting My Personal Information On The Internet. Can Anybody Go Into My Profile And Make Changes?

It is not unusual for people to have concern about the security of providing information via the Internet. The Ontario Opticians Association (OOA) and Opticians Association of Canada (OAC) have taken every precaution to ensure that your privacy is protected.

Only you have access to your data entry on our database system. Our system has automatically assigned you a password. This is to allow you initial admission into the system. The system-assigned password is very complex and it would be next to impossible for someone to guess it, so please do not share the password information with someone else. Only you can make changes to your contact information. You can update your address, phone number, fax number and all the other things that may change over time.

Can I Change The Password The System Has Assigned Me?

Yes. To personalize your password, you must be logged in. Click on the Profile link and change your password in the password field. Passwords must be a minimum of 6 characters long and are case-sensitive.

Who Has Access To My Con Ed History and Subscription Information?

Access to all information in your Profile, including your Con Ed History and Subscription Information, is password protected. These areas may be viewed by you after entering your log-in information.

A portion of the database housing your information is shared by the OAC and OOA. OOA staff have access to all information in your Profile. By becoming a member of the OOA, you are automatically provided with a membership with the OAC, therefore, OAC staff have access to your contact information and membership dates only.

I have moved. Can I change my address online?

Yes. To change your address online, you must be logged in. Click on the Profile link and change your address under the Address 1 or Address 2 tabs located in the middle of the screen.

Can I make changes to my Con Ed History or Subscription Summary?

Unlike your contact information, you will not be able to alter your Con Ed History or Subscription Summary.

Your subscription information will be automatically updated if you purchase or renew a subscription online (i.e. membership or liability insurance) but may also be manually updated by OOA or OAC administrative staff if you purchase or renew any of these subscriptions by contacting the OOA or OAC offices directly.

Your Con Ed History will be updated within thirty (30) days of attending an event organized by the OOA.

What Is the Security Level Of The Credit Card Information I Supply?

If you are renewing or purchasing a subscription (membership or liability insurance) with the OOA or registering for an event via the Internet this information is protected by an encrypted SSL environment.

The program used to process payments online is Moneris. Moneris is "committed to ensuring the integrity of payment information, and the prevention of credit card fraud. They work with the card associations to ensure that the e-commerce payment processing solutions are secure and in complete compliance with their rules and regulations."
